New
Year - New Gear!
(11th
January 2012)
2012
is kicking off with more items in my webshop. The swimfeeder
lead mould I announced on my blog last month is now in stock
in three sizes (3, 4 and 5 ounces) along with plastic mesh
to complete the feeder. These will save barbel anglers fishing
big snaggy rivers a fortune!
I have
also added a selection of stuff that I use myself from the
John Roberts range of rig bits and tackle.
All
the new additions can be found on the New
Stuff page.

Holiday
Time
(14th
December 2011)
Only
a week to go until the Winter Solstice and the days starting
to lengthen so that's me just about done for rod building
until the New Year. I'll still be taking orders but nothing
will happen to them until January 9th! The on-line
shop will function as normal but delivery will be
at the mercy of the Royal Mail.

Butt
Lock
(1st
December 2011)
I didn't
dream up the daft name, but I
have been using these for ages although have only
just got round to listing them in my webshop. They're pretty
good!

Take
a look here.

Webshop
problems
(15th
November 2011)
My Webshop
appears to be broken. I'm receiving notification of payments
but no trace of any orders.
If you
place an order and receive a confirmation can you please
forward it to me at dave@dlst.co.uk. If you place an order
and don't receive a confirmation e-mail please contact me
anyway.
I'm
trying to get the problem sorted but it's proving hard to
track down where the problem lies.

Pike

(11th
September 2011)
For reasons
which will become apparent soon enough I have moved my on-line
version of my 1996 lure book to this site. Pike Fishing
with Lures can now be found here.
If you were daft enough to have it bookmarked at the old
address please update things.

Price
drop!
(3rd
August 2011)
It's
not often that prices come down, but a change in supplier
for the excellent Laze Split Ring Pliers has brought that
about. Down from £14.00 to £11.50. In the shop
here.

New
handle now standard
(13th
July 2011)
The new
style abbreviated handle I mentioned some time back is now
my standard and is being used on all P-1 and BB350 rods
as of a while back. If you are wanting a rod to match an
existing rod or rods please specify the handle style.
New
style shown here on a BB350 in Ultra Matt finish with reduced
graphics. Butt grip is slim, tapered with large Harrison
stainless steel button.

Nothing
much to report
(16th
May 2011)
I've
been a bit lazy updating this site, so I've put in a few
recent feedback comments on my Nice
Words page. I still haven't got round to working
on a paper catalogue as prices keep changing all the time
from various suppliers. It might be easier to do one without
prices and a separate price list. I'll see...
No new
products on the horizon, although I'm chasing up a new rod
blank today. Not that I'm going to be holding my breath
as it's been 'on the drawing board' for a few years already!

New
cosmetic specifications for some rods
and price increase
(11th
March 2011)
For 2011
I'm modernising the look on some of my rods. All cork handles
will now feature a two inch foregrip as has always been
standard on my specialist rods. Rods with the abbreviated
Duplon style will have a stainless steel collar at the front
of the DNPS reel seat, a slightly slimmer butt grip, and
a stainless steel butt button. Handle lengths on 12ft predator
rods are altering a fraction too, but all other specifications
are remaining the same. The blanks, the important bit, are
unchanged. Photos of the changes will appear on the site
in due course.
There
is a world-wide shortage of some carbon cloths thanks to
the Boeing 787. This means that blank manufacturers are
struggling to keep stocks as the aeroplane sucks up output
and fishing rods are a low priority. Thanks to the law of
supply and demand prices of carbon have gone up. As a consequence
Harrison's are putting their blank prices up on 1st April,
so if you want to beat the price rise get your rod orders
in soon!

American
Fishing Wire
(21st
October 2010)
40lb
and 60lb Surfstrand back in stock. 40lb is my pike
bait trace wire of choice, 60lb for lighter lure traces
and favoured by many for uptrace material.

Eagle
Claw Trebles
(20th
August 2010)
The previous
Eagle Claw distributor has ceased trading, but I have a
new supplier meaning stocks will be steady again. Large
sizes (1/0-5/0) of the straight point 974 pattern are all
back in stock and sizes 4 and 6 have been added
to the webshop. Other sizes available to order,
and bulk (100+) deals are a possibility for those who ask.
